Roni Griffith took off for New York City in her late teens to pursue a career
in modeling. Within three years she had landed a National Clairol Commercial
and was also signed as a Disco Recording Artist with Vanguard Records. It was
not long before one of her songs "The Best Part Of Breaking Up" had hit the
Billboard Disco charts at #2 and another single had gone Platinum and Gold in
Canada.
Roni was now traveling to Germany, Canada and performing in some of
the most popular Disco's in the country. Many considered her a success, yet Roni
felt a void in her life that would not go away. Roni Griffith had been raised
in a Christian home and accepted Christ in her life at 12 years of age. There
was no doubt in her mind that God was very real but the on going compromise was
now wearing at her heart. This was not the plan God had created for her.
Roni
found herself one evening crying and praying for God to have his way in her life
and that his plan and purpose would prevail. The next year after saying that
prayer, Roni Griffith took a short break to go home and visit her family, little
did she know at the time, that there was a powerful woman of God who was a
missionary visting her hometown. Some friends who had met the missionary shared
her testimony with Roni, however it was so compelling that it scared Roni and
she did not want to meet this woman.
When the woman heard about Roni being in
town God instantly told her to begin fasting and praying for her. For three days
the missionary prayed and just like a movie playing on a TV screen, God began to
reveal Roni's life and heart to her.
The day before Roni Griffith was to
return to New York to perform in the famous Disco "Studio 54", the missionary
called Roni's home and ask her to come and see her. The love and kindness in her
voice touched Roni's heart and she told her she would give her only 10 minutes
of her time. This women began to tell Roni what the Lord had shown her and like
a mighty wind God moved with great compassion in the room that day and Roni
rededicated her life to Christ. She walked away from everything and moved back
to Indiana.
Soon afterwards Roni began to write and produce what she calls Pop
Praise & Worship, song's that not only minister to the heart and mind but
also are very upbeat and catchy. All ages' love her new CD release called "Only
You" and find that the tunes just stick in your mind. You can't quit singing
them!
